Workgroup permissions

Hi all.

I have an XP workgroup, with five machines, one of which is acting as
a server. Each of the four users has a folder on the server, which I
want to restrict access to. Now, I've created all of the users on the
server, and I've disabled simple file permissions, but when I deny
access to everyone but the user, *everyone* gets an access denied
message, including the user who has been left with full control.
Passwords are all blank and there are no groups set up. I can't think
of anything that might be of any relevance.

Any ideas?

TIA,
DSt.

remove "everyone" from the permissions settings and just
have the needed user (and administrator I would suggest)
with permissions set.

Everyone denied over rides any other settings.

You can't deny everyone, cause that will set everyone to deny, hence the
word everyone, meaning all users. What you need to do is remove everyone
from the list and remove any other users as well. Add administrator(just in
case) and add the user that needs access. Set them to the permissions you
want. Now only admin and the user have access.
