Work around for MS Outlook Mailto bug?

Some users get an error message on a web site I have developed. They
only get this if they use MS Outlook or MA Outlook Express as their
mail client (and even then only in specific circumstances). They get
a message as follows: "Could not perform the operation because the
default mail client is not installed properly". Their mail client is
installed fine - this is a known bug apparently, see:
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;182985

I am using the Mailto command to generate an email to lots of members
of a club. As a result there are lots of email addresses (more than
456 characters).

Is there any known workaround to this problem?

other than what is in the KB, not really. options include setting up a
mailing list and put the mailing list address in the mailto or create a
group mailbox and configure it to forward to all members (or a DL that
contains all members).

I have made it so that MS Mail client users can copy the data directly
from the web page. An awful solution but there we are.

Thanks very much.
