Word file attachments in WM

Hello,

Whenever I open a .Doc file in WM I get the error that no program is
associated with it. I have completed the following actions:

I have made sure that .doc are associated with winword.exe (path is correct
too).
I have disabled the email attachment security option in WM.
I have run a repair option with the Office 2007 CD.
I have disabled the McAfee email virus scanner.
I have mucked around in the registry and cannot the source of the problem.

If I copy the file to the desktop it will open fine. Any help is appreciated.

You can try uninstalling McAfee but its probably better to save it to disk
first, especially if you are going to edit it.

If I have disabled McAfee do you think uninstalling it will change the

Some have reported that, but I don't know for sure.

There are much better alternatives to McAfee that don't break things.
