Word 2007 printing error

Hello,
After installing the Office 2007 Beta, I have had the following problem
with Word. When I create a new document, the text on screen appears fine…
the text is precisely how I composed it. When I select Print Preview, the
document appears fine there also. However, when I print my document the
hard-copy appears in the upper portion of the page at about 10 – 15 percent
of the original size.

The work-around that I have found is to open an older document composed in
Office 2003, and paste my new document into it. This allows me to print as I
wish: a full and complete page. Is it possible that my normal.dot template
is corrupted? This has never happened to me while I have used Word 2003 in
the past.

I am running a clean installation of Windows XP Professional with the
current drivers for my HP LaserJet installed. Any assistance would be
greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Michael

Many users are reporting this type of issue. Apparently Word 2007 doesn't
work very well with existing printer drivers. Make sure you don't have Track
Changes turned on, as that could cause that effect even in earlier versions
(though usually not so extreme as 10-15%).

I have the inverse error: when I try to print word 2003 docs. or new docs,
the print layout is right, the page properties are right too, but the printed
text appears double sized, getting text out of the print. My printer is a Hp
officejet 6110 with the last drivers. Track changes are turned off.
Thanks Suzanne for your kind help

This is the type of error that most users are reporting. So far, no cause,
solution, or workaround has been offered AFAIK, although some users are
having success by printing to PDF.

Hi Suzanne,

FWIW, in Word 2007 the built in PDF feature is a 'Save and publish' one rather than a print choice :)

Hi Sergio,

If you use File[Office button]=>Print and choose a different printer then switch back to the first printer can you print?

Do you get different results if you print from the printer icon (with lightning bolt) on the Quick Access Toolbar (QAT) than you do
from File=>Print using the same printer?

Hi Bob:

I took a Word 2003 doc and changed the printer to Microsoft Office Document
Image Writer, printed the resulting mdi with my 6110 and get a right result.
Then I switched back to the 6110 and printed from Word 2007 (printer Icon):
the print was OK. Next print I tried I had the sizing problem again, but I
realized that I set the printer quality to "daily use". It doesn't happen
when you set the quality to "normal" or "optimum" but in "dailt use" and
"draft" mode you will get an error.

Hi Sergio,

Interesting.

If you use File=>Print in Word 2007 and click Options, then from there 'Advanced' and scroll down to that Print section is the
'Draft Quality' box checked?

If not, what effect does using it have on your 'daily use/quick print' choice in your Printer driver.

Hi Bob:

I tried it, but no changes. Same behaviour in Daily use and draft mode.
