Word 2003 - printing shading on comment reference text

I have created template forms that include user instructions in comments. We
have turned off the balloons in printing and viewing, so they never show up.
Fine there.

The problem we are having is with the shaded text that I highlighted when I
added the comment. If you use the File > Print method of printing, the text
is printed properly as plain black letters. However, if you use the Printer
BUTTON in the standard toolbar, the text is printed with gray shading, like
it appears on the screen.

Is there any way to eliminate this shading if you use the printer button?

Thanks for any help you can give me.
