Wont let me export Video in anything but DV-AVI

After I try to export in any format other than DV_AVI I get an error message
saying the source file is gone, the hard drive is full or the saving
directory is gone. However, the source files are still there, I have ample
free hard drive space (for a 5 minute movie) and the saving directory is the
desktop.

How can I remedy this situation?

PS I am running a compaq laptop with an Athlon 3000+, 1 gig of ram, and 7
gigs of free hard disk space, so i dont think it has anything to do with
hardware limitations.

Hello Aron,
These are my tips or guide to distinguish the error messages:
1. If you don't see any BIG red X in your Video Timeline then your source file is intact.
2. With 7 GB is barely enough because I used 200 GB for 1.5 hrs movie.
3. My guess and I wouldn't use my Desktop as my Temp Saving Movie Directory. To remedy and change the Directory: Click Tools >
Options > General tab > look under Temporary storage and change it by using Browse button (choose a letter hard drive beside C: or
look for a bigger space HD), you can also change it by highlighting it first then type D:\ if you have a D: drive or any other
letter drives.

Wishing you all the luck,
Rino
