WMPlayer connect/disconnect

Don't know if this is a network problem or not but since it involves
WMPlayer.exe, I'm posting here.

Since yesterday I get a Connect/Disconnect tone on my PC every few seconds.
On opening Process Explorer and watching the services, I notice that on
each Connect tone, WMPlayer appears indented under mobsync.exe. On each
Disconnect tone, WMPlayer disappears.
I tried killing both processes (mobsync and wmplayer, but it seems to
make no difference. What is causing this and how do I gt rid of it?

Hi,

In the media player settings, it is set to automatically check for updates?

Uncertain. Under Media Player options,
Automatic Updates is checked for Once a Month.
Connect to the Internet is unchecked.

Can I just delete it from Vista? Never use it.

Check for Updates in Windows Vista is just a filtered view of Windows Update
and generally will not be interesting as a trouble-shooting method at this
time. The normal Windows Updates update check would be much more
interesting to ensure being up-to-date on. =\
