WMP/Windows Explorer

Hi,
Quite a while back, I asked how to get rid of the "preview" WMP that
appears in Windows explorer when a media file (in my case, mp3) is single
clicked. After messing around with the folder.htt in the Folder Setting
folder, I've managed to get rid of it. But the problem remains in that
folder's subdirectories. For example:
I have a folder D:\Music. There are mp3 files as well as folders in this
directory. I have edited "Music"'s folder.htt file to stop WMP from
appearing in Explorer. However, in D:\Music\Beatles, the problem remains.
This folder does not have a system folder called "Folder Settings", nor does
it have a "folder.htt", so Windows Media Player seemingly can not be
"un-integrated", so to speak. I have tried (from D:\Music) Tools>Folder
Options>View Tab > Like Current Folder, but it does not copy that setting.
In fact, it specifically asks "Set all the folders on your computer to match
the current folder's view settings (except for toolbars and webview)?" And
since this is part of the webview, I can't make the change for all the
subdirectories of my Music folder. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Hi again Ken,

Sounds like you have customized a single folder (D:\Music) to get rid of the media
file preview and that you want to apply that customization to other select folders.
If that is correct try this:

- If necessary change your Explorer view options as follows:

Control Panel > Folder Options > View [tab]:
Select: "Show hidden files and folders"
Uncheck: "Hide file extensions for known file types"
Uncheck: "Hide protected operating system files (Recommended)"

- Use Explorer to open D:\Music, then copy the File named desktop.ini and the File
Folder named "Folder Settings" (folder and contents) to D:\Music\Beatles

- Right-click D:\Music\Beatles, click Properties, in the Attributes section put a
check in the Read-only checkbox, click Apply, choose to "Apply changes to this folder
only", then OK.

- With D:\Music\Beatles selected, refresh Explorer using the F5 key. You may need to
do this several times and if the view has not changed after 4 or 5 refreshes, close
all running instances of Explorer, and then open Explorer.
