WMP add-in for FrontPage 2003 not working Server based web

Marek Gold

Sorry for crossposting but I need to sort this out and the add-ins newsgroup
seems a bit slow.

Running WinXP Pro. Sp2, IIS, Windows Media Player 10

I have just installed the latest Windows Media Player addin for FrontPage
2003 "WMPAdd-inforMSFrontPage.msi" from the Add-in website and notice that I
cannot get it to work.

When I go to Insert/Windows Media Player the wizard starts up OK. I
then select a media file (.mp3) then go next then finished and I get the
message

"Cannot create C:\Temporary Internet
Files\FrontPageTempdir\mp-new_page_1_1.asx. It is possible that Windows
media player is already open previewing the media play list?
(Error: 3) The system cannot find the path specified."

Windows Media Player is not open.

This happens on my IIS server based web e.g http://machinename/site. Strange
thing is that if I do this on a disk based web e.g "C:\My Webs\site" it
works fine.

Previously I was running WMP 9 with the old add-in "wmpfpaddin.exe" and it
worked fine on the server based web.

Any ideas how I can get this latest add-in working on my server based web
appreciated.

There may be a bug in the addin
C:\Temporary Internet Files\FrontPageTempdir
is not a std or default location for the TIF & FPTD
Usually it is in
%USERPROFILE%\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files\FrontPageTempDir
where %USERPROFILE% is C:\Documents and Settings\USERNAME

Or in IIS you have turned on parent pathing so FP is trying to go to C:\

Hi Stefan,

Thanks for the reply. Yes I know the stuff about C:\Temporary Internet
Files\FrontPageTempdir that is is not a default location so I don't know why
the add-in is having issues about this.

Can you please explain what you mean by "in IIS you have turned on parent
pathing so FP is trying to go to C:\"?

If you are talking about the Home directory setting in IIS, then I do not
have this set to C:\. in fact I have it set to another drive altogether.

If you have any more suggestion it would be great.
