WMP 9 and all players crash when playing audio/video.

The skinny:
I open a music/video file, and it will play through to
the end, but the program freezes once I initiate a file.
I can only close it by End Now. Microsoft will claim
that it is WinAmp's fault or Kazaa's fault when I send
error reports, but they say nothing when it happens in
WMP (hypocrits). I have not been able to get an error
report response. Uninstalling WMP and reinstalling it
did not work. After removing it and reinstalling XP, and
XP reinstalling WMP (pre-version 9.0) it seemed to work
for one test, but then I upgraded tback to 9.0 with
windows update, and redeveloped the problem.

Open wmp, tools, options, file types tb,select the types you
want wmp to play and stick to it.

Thats not really the problem (who plays what). WMP is
defaulted to play everything. I only tried WinAmp to
find out if it was a problem only with WMP (which it is
not).
