WMM2 Freezes Up Out Of Nowhere...

Alright, I just fixed the problem with WMM2 turning off when I add effects and such by renaming the Divxaf.ax file to Divxaf.old. Seemed to be working alright again, but it's freezing up a lot that it used to. While I'm dragging a clip to the timeline or done previewing a clip or...well, anything...the program just freezes up. I can't click on anything, and the program sais (Not Responding). This used to only happen once in a while and I didn't mind, but now it's happening everytime I use the program for more than 3 minutes. I've raised the size of the paging file to around a gig. Don't know what's causing this... Anybody got any ideas or input?

You might have other problem codecs..... see the Problem Solving >
Acceleration and Codecs page of my site.

Or you are using MPEG-2 or Divx encoded AVI files as source files. What
types of files are you using?

PapaJohn, yeah...for the most part I use DivX or XVid source video. Guess WMM2 isn't really built for it ne? Let me try converting the files to wmv and give it another go, i'll post mah findings here.

Alright, it seems I can't convert my DivX files into wmv format. Windows Media Encoder 9 freezes up after it begins to encode. Doesn't even load up the preview before it freezes, but WME is not the problem I'm concerned with. WMM2 is really getting on my nerves, these random hangs and crashes are so annoying. Anybody got another method of encoding DivX avi files to wmv? Or maybe a way to help fix this problem? I think I'm going crazy...

The Importing Source Files > Video > AVI page of my site includes a couple
links to Divx codecs and info... and some comments. See the Codecs section
on the page. Maybe you need a different codec than what your system is
trying to use.

I really feel stupid now, because I didn't think the hardware acceleration thing would work. Baka. I tried it and now WMM2 is running smoother than it ever was. Thanks 4 yalls help though. :D

Hello therre,

Remember though, your system will in general run slower now than before. You
might be able to restore your acceleration settings by first going to the
maufacturer of your graphics card, or, the manufacturer of your mother board if
the graphics card is built in, and get the latest device drivers (and/or
firmware upgrade if its one of the more expensive cards)
