WMM Freezes when a project is opened, help?

Basically, I have been using movie maker for quite a while now, and recently
when I go to open a project, the progress bar that checks for the project
files goes painfully slow, and during this movie maker freezes. When I close
it using task manager, it prompts me to save my project, and bursts into life
again minus the project needed to be opened. If I leave a project loading, it
takes about half hour or so to open it...
This is Movie Maker 2 with media player 9 codecs I am using.

Has anyone got the same problem and solved it or can someone give me a link
to the solution?

Maybe some maintenance would be a good
starting place to solve this issue. Do you run
Disk Cleanup, Error Checking and Defrag
frequently?

(check the two boxes..."Automatically fix file
system errors" and "Scan for and attempt
recovery of bad sectors") the utility will run
the next time you restart your computer.
(run error checking repeatedly until it finds
no errors)

I had a similar problem, I was doing a movie w/ pictures syn with a song.
To make the project look good I was editing the pictures (changing sizes,
color and etc.) to fit the movie format. I am using Paint .net to do this. I
saved the change every day. Then, one day I clicked on my saved clip and the
project started opening. It got to the point of "Checking project files" and
froze 80% of the way in, this locked up the computer and the only way to get
out of it was Control-ALT-delete. After a few days of thinking about it, I
went to "MY PICTURES" and deleted the last few pictures I had modified before
the problem. This fixed the problem, I don,t know why, I went back and
redone the pictures, inserted them in my movie and every thing is back to
normal. May be this will help you.
