Have a Windows 2000 server SP4 lots of ram and space.

Got an error in from Veritas during backup saying:

An error occurred creating a WMI Repository interface.
The WMI Repository could not be backed up.^ ^ ^ ^ ^

Also Got an System log event error:

Event ID: 10010
Source DCOM
Type Error
Description
The server {C49E32C6-BC8B-11D2-85D4-00105A1F8304} did not
register with DCOM within the required timeout.

When opening the properties of WMI from "Manage
computer\Services and Applications" is get the following
message:

Failed to connect to <local computer> because "Windows:
Server execution failed"

Have tried changing the log on from current to
administrator.

Not sure what else to try?

HipCity,

In simple terms WMI allows an application to inventory the hardware.
Search the MS Download Center for any updates for WMI and install them
(should have been installed with SP4 but .......). Include in that IE
6.0 SP1 and/or Windows Script 5.6 (installed by IE6).

I'm clutching at straws here, but sometimes that actually does work
........... :)
