WinXP SP3 drvmain.sdb problem`

When I try to install SP3 I get the following AppPatch/drvmain.sdb
is open or in use by another program.

I cannot get by this message. I have disable NAC autoprotect, removed
windows defenderl

Kill, rename - try again

I succeeded by renaming the .sdb file to a different extension after killing all Processes in Task Manager that I knew I did not need at the moment. There were about 10 processes that I ended before running the SP3 again.

I ran the service pack from a downloaded copy - not from within Windows Update routine.
