WinXP Pro SP2 works great

Eight days ago, I downloaded the SP2 package for IT professionals at

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...be-3b8e-4f30-8245-9e368d3cdb5a&displaylang=en

and installed it on one of my two computers. The only problem I had
was a conflict with my AdSubtract Pro. After I updated that program, I
have had no further problems. I then installed it on my other computer
and have had no problems. (SP2 blocks pop ups, and I use it with
AdSubtract, which also blocks ads.)

My Norton AV status is not reported in the "Security center" and
Norton's claimed update to integrate into SP2 has not yet occurred.
That is no problem, since I have Norton set to auto update. (It looks
like Norton is sitting on its butt.)

I use a NAT router, without a software firewall, other than that in
XP.

After more than a week, all seems well with SP2.

It occured already. You need to run Live Update manually as the auto update
may not download the WMI update and the
related program updates that makes it report itself to the Security Center.
Go to Symantec's support page with Internet Explorer and let it check your
system for what updates are missing.

I have Norton AV 2003. The Norton site says that they are no longer
supporting it after this year and that it is up to date.
Thus it does not work with Security Center and Norton does not care.

I have not gotten "my check from Bill G" yet, but I would purchase a
Windows version with both good virus and fire wall protection built
in.

Typical symantec behavior. Not Bill G.'s fault, I assure you.
Besides symantec advises all stupid to care anymore that all their software
is in compliance. If your symantec product was running while you ran sp2 you
might want to uninstall it and reinstall the symantec product.
