WinXP Pro CD Admin Password Problem

I wanted to run the Repair function on my WinXP Pro CD. After selecting the
option 1 for the Win program it asked for the Administrator's password. It's
been long lost. I tried the usuals like 1234, just hitting Return, etc. with
no luck. As far as User Accounts, it just shows my name as Administrator and
a User Acct. Any ideas on how to get around this?

-I think you're trying to load the Recovery Console, which you can't do
without the Admin password.

If you select "Install" instead of "Repair", then at a later screen you get
to select the partition to install-to. When setup sees there's already a
Windows folder on the one you choose, it should ask if you want to repair
that instead of reinstalling. You'll need your product key. The install
should revert your Windows components to -out-of-the-box state, but your
other programs and data won't be removed. You get to specify a new Admin
password in the process.

The other approach is to try password-crackers, but frankly the repair
install is quicker and seldom fails.

If you are trying to do a Repair Install, you are in the wrong place.
You don't want to be in the Recovery Console which is where you are.
