I have a Windows 2000 Pro (SP4) machine with Office 2000 Pro (SR3) with
problems. Word starts fine, but whenever I try to open a file (either File
Open or using the open button), I get a "winword.exe has generated errors
...." and the program bombs. PowerPoint also gets "PowerPoint has found an
error it can't correct" and then it freezes.
I've done all the trouble shooting in the "Problems opening Word" document -
run winword /a, check Word startup directory, erase ~*.* files, delete Data
Key in registry, set local printer, uninstalled anti-virus program. Any
other ideas before I reinstall the operating system?
