Winnt.sif with unattend.txt

O

Ondrej Sevecek

Hello,
which of this two files will be used when unattended installation is
started with unattend.txt and the diskette with even winnt.sif is inserted
during the text mode part of the setup?

Thanks Ondra.

Hi Ondra,

The answer file for setup is commonly called unattend.txt, but for a
network preinstallation, you can name the file anything you like. For a
CD-based Setup, the answer file must be named winnt.sif.

Good Luck,

.... but what happens when installation is issued with "winnt32.exe
/unattend.txt" and when text setup is booted, some diskette with "winn.sif"
is inserted? What configuration is used then. The one from "unattend.txt" or
"winnt.sif"?

Ondra.

Hi Ondra,
If you used the syntax "winnt /u:unattend.txt /s:<install source>" we'd use
the unattend.txt file.

If you simply booted to the Win2K CD and started the installation, we'd look
very early in the process for winnt.sif on a floppy, and use it if found.

If no winnt.sif is found, but you insert a floppy later in the process,
winnt.sif will still not be used (the installation would not be unattended).
