WinMgt.exe program error

D

donna

Program error keeps popping up (Windows 2003 Professional
just installed):

WinMgt.exe has generated errors and will be closed by
windows. You will need to restart the program.

An error log is being created.

This is almost constant (twice while I'm typing this
message). What do I do?

Thanks, donna

Winmgmt.exe has generated errors and will be closed by Windows. You will
need to restart the program. An error log is being created.

This behavior can occur if files in the
%SystemRoot%\System32\Wbem\Repository folder become corrupted. The error
message appears repeatedly because Winmgmt.exe polls the files every 30 to
60 seconds.

Stop the WMI (Windows Management Instrumentation) Service,

Back up the files in that directory (%SystemRoot%\System32\Wbem\Repository)
before deleting them.

Start the WMI Service.

Donna,

Go into the computer management console by right click on My Computer and
selecting Manage. Drill down to the "Services and Applications" |
"Services"

Find the Windows Management Instrumentation service from the panel on the
right hand side and select it. Then right click on it and select "Stop"

To start the service, right click on the selected service (Windows
Management Instrumentation) and click start. I believe you may need
Administrative privileges on the machine, so contact your Administrator if
you need further assistance.

HTH,
Daniel
