WindowsDefenr, GPO, Configuration

C/S/G

Hello together.

We would like to install Windowsdefender for all clients within our
W2K3-Network.
We have installed the windowsdefender.adm to configure the
Computer-Policies, but it`s not enough.
The requirement is to enable Windowsdefender on all our WinXP-Prof clients,
make the trayicon viewable but don`t allow useraction to change the settings
and don`t allow open the window of Windowsdefender. Information about open
firewallports - the are configured via GPO for printers, scanner and a lot of
tools - should be preconfigured while the installation.

Who can help me to make it possible?

Thanx

Jan

Hello Engel.

Thanx for your information. I know Forefront, but there is another
security-software in use. I would like to use Windowsdefender additional to
the Norman Security Software.
But if there isn`t a way to let Windowsdefender run in the background
without interaction of users I think, it`s the wrong way and looking for
another additional Spy-. Ad- and Scarewareprotection.

Thanx again.

Windows Defender is not designed for your environment--it isn't manageable
at the level you need, I'm afraid. The Microsoft solution that does provide
that level of manageability is Forefront.

The general trend is for Antivirus vendors to add antispyware as a feature
or part of a suite, but I'm not familiar with Norman enough to know if they
offer something along those lines.
