I am trying to figure out why some attachments will open but others,
particularly .eml will not open and freeze Windows Mail. I have to end task
with Task manager. Anyone have any ideas why.

Try opening Control Panel and click the Default Programs icon and make sure
that Windows Mail is set as your default mail program so that the file
association can be set correctly.
