Windows XP will not shut down

This started a couple of months ago - had a tech come to the house and he
could never fix it - I have to use the button to shut down. If it is a BIOS
issue, how do I know what version of update is correct? This is driving me
nuts!

Personally, I never understand why this is so important an issue to some
people, and don't mind having to power off manually (one of my older
computers requires it), but there's good information on shutdown problems
here: http://www.aumha.org/win5/a/shtdwnxp.htm

Usually non-shutdown with a computer relate to hardware, was something
added to the computer as this first started. You might uninstall items as they
were added until the problem ends,and/or move the pci card(s) to diffrent
slots. The problem should'nt be BIOS or windows related.
