Windows XP Upgrade

I just upgraded from Windows Millenium Edition to Windows
XP Home Edition. When installing Windows XP I did a quick
upgrade because I wanted to save my files and settings.
After upgrading I discovered that some of my files were
saved(mainly word documents and databases) however files
that I had saved in folders in Outlook Express were not
there. My addresses in Outlook Express were also gone.
Were these files backed up somewhere during installation?
If so where can I find them, I need them back. Any help
would be greatly appreciated.

Try START|ACCESSORIES|CHARACTER MAP
