Hi,
I have windows xp and the update shield that tells you a new update is ready
to install wont stop appearing. I have downloaded the update and it is in the
list of programs. Immediately after I download it the shield pops up again!
It's driving me nuts. How do I stop it?
The update number is KB967715.
Thanks
Dana

It could be waiting for you to restart your computer after the update, if
you hover your mouse over the shield it should say whether this is so or
whether it is the update.

HTH,
TineLady.

Try installing it again in Safe Mode...

And have a look at the following article:

Update or Microsoft Update when you
are repeatedly offered an update

HTH,

It looks like that might have worked! I downloaded it again then quickly restarted windows and so far so good!
Thanks, keeping my fingers crossed.

I don't know how to reboot in safe mode with networking. So far it hasn't
come back but if it does I'll try to figure out your suggestion.
Thanks,
Dana

You probably have a 'stuck' update. Try the following steps:

- Start -> Control Panel > Administritive Tools -> Services
- Right click the "Automatic Updates" service and click stop
- navigate to C:\Windows\Softwaredistribution\ (note its a hidden folder)
- Delete all contents
- Start the above service again. The SoftwareDistribution folder will
auto-repopulate and re-cataloge required updates
- after another install and reboot you should be good to go!
