SQL Server Express Edition SP2 failure

Anyone,

For about the tenth time, the Windows XP update shield pops up in the
system tray telling me I have an update pending. I click on the shield to
begin the update for Windows SQL Server 2005 Express Edition SP2. After
several minutes, I get a large dialog box telling me the update has failed.

In a few seconds, the update shield is *back* in the system tray and this
all starts over again.

I am using Windows XP SP2 with 1Gb RAM and, according to Installed
Programs, I have SQL Server 2005 (*not* Express Edition) on this computer.

What is wrong here? Evidently Microsoft can't figure out what software is
on what computer!! How can I stop this nonsense?

Any help would be appreciated ans this is getting tiresome.

Regards,

Turner

T Morgon,

Do you have a Visual Studio >NET 2005 Express product installed? Exacmple:
VB/C#/C++/Web. Did you download the SQL 2005 when you downloaded the Express
(Free) Visual Studio application using the same installer? If so, you have
the Express version of SQL 2005.

There are 2 things you can do:

1) Go to Windows Update, click CUSTOM then select the SQL 2005 Express SP 2
Download. Tick the don't show again...

2) Go here
(http://www.microsoft.com/technet/prodtechnol/sql/2005/downloads/servicepack
s/sp2.mspx) & download (save) the redistributable & run from your computer.

I hope this helps,
