The lateest I heard was mid-August. I also read that the udates to
Win64 and Server2003 wer delayed until next year sometime because of the
changes to SP2.

Mid to late August is the release date for now. Do NOT install any RC
(Release Candidate) or any Beta versions of any service pack or operating
system, unless you intend to test it out using a program like Virtual PC or
VMware. The bugs in the SP have not been completely eradicated at this stage
of development and if installed on the average user's mainstream computer
system instead of in a test environment, it can cause A LOT of unecessary
problems.

Always wait until the final release of a SP or OS before installing it.

Even better, wait for the x.1 version. Nothing like a few million real
users to shake out the last few bugs (c.f. WinXP, Mediaplayer 9.x, DX
9.x, etc. etc.). Early adoption is for people who enjoy digging
themselves out of pits.

You're right that would be even better.
