Windows XP SP2 and Partition Magic 8.01

I'm trying to split and resize my C-partition (active with the OS) by
using PowerQuest's Partition Magic 8.01 from Windows. But as soon the PM:s
splash-screen appears - it hangs completely. Have to kill it with
taskmanager - which take some time.

Running PM from DOS works fine. But not from Windows.

Is PM 8.01 incompatible with Win XP SP2 or is there anything
I can do in order to make it work?

IMVHO safer way is to choose 30-day free trial - BootIt
http://www.terabyteunlimited.com/ It just crates bootable floppy that
one does not need to install on HDD. Program can create, resize, backup,
copy and restore partitions and whole disks.

Any changes with system partition should be made when system works and
system partition is in use. One should make any changes with system
partition only when PC boots using FDD or CD/DVD. IMVHO the best way is
to make that change using BootIt NxG.

AFAIK PM 8.0 works fine; however, it is always better to do partition
work outside of the operating system. Why do you have a problem with
booting with PM and changing your partitions that way? Do you not have
a floppy drive?

Hi,

For Partition Magic, you really don`t need to install it. Create the rescue
floppy set and boot from that. You can then use the PQ magic program from
it to partition your hard drives.
