Windows XP repeatedly prompts for License activation

J

J. Caesar

After windows license activation was accepted by MS
License site, when I logon to windows XP activation prompt
keeps coming back, & when I activate to satisfy the prompt
message says - windows already activated & it brings me
back to logon screen. MS knowledge base says, install
kbnnnn patch. Sounds good, if I could only get in to
windows update. Help! Thanks, Caesar

The message was acivate your windows with radio buttons
below that say - via internet & via telephone. When I
activate it, says - your windows is already activated,
which i did. When I replied ok it takes me out from
windows & gives me the logon prompt. When I re-logon it
gives me the 'activate windows' again. If I go on it
keeps doing the same routine over & over. Thanks.

Please try the following from MVP Mark L. Ferguson:

Go to start/run, and type

regsvr32.exe regwizc.dll

OK, then,

regsvr32.exe licdll.dll

Edit the Value:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\WindowsNT\Current Version\WPAEvents
"OOBETimer "
Change at least one digit of this value to deactivate Windows.

Restart windows:

Start/Run, type:
%systemroot%\system32\oobe\msoobe.exe /a
