Windows XP Professional Validation/Repair Problem

T

TAB360

My Windows XP Professional would not start properly so I used the XP
Operating System disk to repair the program. And it apparently did, however
now once I turn on my computer, go through the setup menu then XP starts and
as soon as the welcome screen appears I get the following message: “A problem
has prevented Windows from accurately checking the status of the license for
this computer. To proceed your copy of Windows must be activated with
Microsoft-Do you want to activate Windows now?" And when I hit OK the
computer proceeds, but only the computer background appears-no icons, no
Microsoft activation prompt nothing..........Please Help!!!

Thank you

Tom

I just found the answer to this:
XP only installs with Internet Explorer 6 - so if you previously had IE7 or
higher it gets corrupted and can't access the internet to activate.
Solution: Go to safe mode and install a newer IE...
