Windows XP Pro Registry

I originally had a problem when attempting to start the printer spooler job
and got an error code 1068. This was preventing me from using my existing
printer or adding any new ones. I then attempted to follow instructions on
how to fix this with regedit and I believe I have made things worse. I now
get an error 1075 error message stating the dependency service does not exist
or has been marked for deletion. I then attempted to use System Restore to go
back in time prior to me making any changes in the registry and when I do
this I get an error stating that the restore did not complete due to the fact
that I have not made any changes on the computer. I get this using any of the
restore dates, going back to November. Is there any way to restore the
original registry settings without affecting any programs or saved files on
my PC?

Which instructions, kevin? Meanwhile type this command in Start/Run:

CMD /K SC QC SPOOLER

Copy the output and then paste the contents in your reply.
