Hi Carlos,

Sounds like you may have been bitten by the MSBlaster worm or the Welchia
worm.

Have a look here for information about the Blaster worm and its variants:
http://www.microsoft.com/security/incident/blast.asp

And here is information about the Welchia worm:
http://tinyurl.com/kdp6

You need to d/load and install Security patch KB824146, available here:
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=824146#WinXP

Also, d/load and run the Blaster worm removal tool:
http://tinyurl.com/jqdf

and the Welchia worm removal tool:

Have you checked the Event Viewer for further information concerning that
error?

Probably the best way to try to isolate which error is related to the
problem for which you're posting is to first clear the Event Viewer of all
the errors that are currently listed.....open Event Viewer and click on
Application in the left pane, then go to Action>Clear all Events and click
on No when prompted if you want to save the contents of Application. Do the
same for Security and System. The next time you receive the "Generic Host
Process for Win32 services has encountered a problem and needs to close",
check the Event Viewer as soon as you possibly can following receipt of that
error. Enter the event ID and the event source in their respective fields
here and click on Search:
http://www.eventid.net/search.asp
Hopefully that will lead you to the cause and possible solution to the
problem that is causing the error message.

Hi There

I have been recieving the same error message. Although I am using Windows XP home version. Its very frustrating as I have to keep rebooting the computer. Any help would be much appreciated. The problem started about 2 weeks ago. I have checked my system with Norton Anti Virus. It states I have no Viruses. I have also tried a system restore-but to no avail. As I have sadi any help would be much appreciated

Same problem here for few weeks now. I absolutely have no viruses or worms. Checked many times. I just get that 'Generic Host Process for Win32 Services'-error randomly and it shuts down svchost.exe. After that my ADSL won't work and sometimes it kills all audio too. Sometimes it crashes most of the programs including explorer.ex

What should i do? I'd rather would not do a clean XP reinstall. Also for some reason i cannot perform System Restore either.

Please help!
