Windows XP Printer Driver for NEC SuperScript 870

I have a NEC SuperScript 870 printer. It fuctioned
flawlessly with the Windows 98 operating system. Now I
have XP, there is a 10-15 second delay before the first
page is printed and 10-15 sec. delay between pages. Do
you know of any updated drivers to solve this problem?
Can I make any printer setting adjustments to eliminate
the problem?

Please provide any assistance you can.
