Windows XP not running

Hi all,

I tried to create a shortcut to the desktop by clicking the start button,
"Programs" ,"Office", then "Excel" and right-dragged the "Excel" icon to the
desktop. There was an error message so I tried deleting the shortcut by
right-clicking on the "Excel" shortcut icon and then selected delete.

The "Excel" shortcut icon disappeared from the desktop but when I tried to
use Excel the regular way, it will not run. Instead, after a few pop ups I
receive a pop up asking for features on a CD-ROM that is not available.
(There is also no CD-ROM in the CD drive because I am using a computer at
work and I did not install Microsoft Office myself). I tried clicking the
"OK" button but an error button pops up.

Does anyone know how I can get "Excel" running again?

You could have probably pressed Ctrl/Z to undo the failed move, but now
it probably won't work.

Find the Excel executable in its folder, right-click, click Send To,
Desktop (Create Shortcut). Go to the Desktop, right-click the shortcut,
click Copy. Navigate to the Excel folder, right-click, click Paste.

Thanks for your suggestion. I will try it out when I am at work on Friday.

I'm not too familiar with computers. What do you mean by "Find the Excel
executable in its folder?"

P.S. I rewrote my question and problem because there were mistakes in it
(including the title) but I think that you understood it. The new message is
under "Excel Not Running".

To find Excel Executable, go to the Office folder and find the program.
A Google search suggested it's located at:

C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office 2000\Office\EXCEL.EXE

Right-click, click Send To, Desktop (create shortcut).

Yes, I saw it, wrote up some clarifications, but decided to leave it
open for other comments. So I saved the post to the Drafts folder in
case I decide to post it later.

I tell you something, if youstill got that deleted Item in
recyling bin, then just restore it, then reboot the PC
