Windows XP, no installation cd, how to reinstall

Hello, i have windows xp on my laptop and would like to clean reinstall
windows xp, however the laptop didn't come with an xp cd (as
usuall...arg) so i don't know how to clean reinstall windows xp,
recovery console just gets me to a command prompt and system restore
only restores back to a certain date. any help would be appreciated,

Have you contact the supplier of your Laptop to see if they can supply you
with an XP CD?

Follow the system recovery instructions provided by the laptop
manufacturer to return the laptop to its original, ex-factory state.
