Windows XP Net Framework

I have windows XP Pro. The auto update feature wants to install Net
Framework 1.0 SP3. I have Net Framework 1.1 so, of course, the update fails,
but the update icon keeps returning. If I go to "add/remove software" it
shows I have 1.0 and a hotfix for 1.0. But if I click to remove it, it says
it isn't there. How do I get rid of some fraction of 1.0 so auto update will
quit trying to install an update for it?

there are complete uninstallers on Microsoft download website,
but I think Net framework instalations are made manually,
not by automatic updates. You have to download the
service packs, etc.

hope this helps, Carlos.
