Should i install .NET Framework 1.1 or 2.0?

My notebook was originally equipped with MS Windows XP Professional with SP2
and .NET Framework 1.0 without SP3. Every time when I try to update my system
thru Microsoft Update website, it shows that I have .NET 1.0 and recommended
me to install .NET Framework 1.0 SP3. Should I install SP3 for .NET Framework
1.0 or should I download and install .NET Framework 1.1 with SP1 or .NET
Framework 2.0?

If happened you recommend me to try .NET Framework 1.1 with SP1 or .NET
Framework 2.0 with certain reason, should I uninstall my existing .NET
Framework 1.0 before installing .NET Framework 1.1 with SP1 or .NET Framework
2.0?

install 1.1
then install sp1 for 1.1
then install 2.0

they can run side-by-side no problems
