Windows XP Logon - Please Make It Go Away

B

Bill

I just got a new machine that was pre-loaded with Windows XP Pro. Every
time I turn it on, I have to log on. I also have a laptop that is running
the same XP Pro, but when turned on, it goes directly to the desktop. How
can I make my new machine do the same?

I'm not a computer geek (no offense intended), so I'm not proficient in a
lot of technical terms and/or procedures. Having said that, what do I need
to do to bypass the log on screen?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Greetings

1. Go to Start/Run and type in: control userpasswords2 and press ok.

2. On the Users tab, clear the Users Must Enter A User Name And Password To
Use This Computer check box and then click OK.

3. In the Automatically Log On dialog box that appears, type the user name
and password for the account you want to be logged on each time you start
your computer.
