Want logon request

I have xp pro with only one user/administrator. On bootup I am automatically
logged on bypassing the Welcome screen or seperate logon one -- I changed it to
do this a while back but cannot remember how. I now want to reinstate either
the welcome/logon page or the traditional logon one. I have gone to User
Accounts in Control Panel and then to 'change the way users log on or off' and
ticked the 'use the welcome screen' box but to no avail. I have also checked
the boot.ini to see if 'noguiboot' is ticked, but it isn't. Any suggestions?
TIA

Start>Run>control userpasswords2 [enter]

You will see where you can undo the automatic logon and where you can check
"Users must enter a name and password".
