Windows XP login

When I start my computer, I always have to enter a password or click OK. I
am tired of doing that. So, I went to Control Panel and clicked on User
Accounts. And then change the way users log in (I am the only user). I get
this error:

A recently installed program has disabled the Welcome Screen and Fast User
Switching. To restore these features you must reinstall the program. The
following file name might help you identify the program that made the change:
cswGina.dll

I tried to delete this and the acess is denied. What do I need to do to
correct this?

See www.dougknox.com, Win XP Utilities, Fix Windows XP Logon. This will restore the setting that tells the system to use MSGINA.DLL, instead of CSWGINA.DLL. Use of an alternative GINA (Graphical Identification and Authentication) DLL, breaks Fast User Switching and the Welcome Screen.

I have the same initial question! I tried your fix and got a dialog box that
said "Default Gina in use. DLL in use: MSGINA.DLL (standard)." There was
only one choice of action: Exit. How can I get the same result as jls?

Since your computer is using the correct GINA, my utility will not correct your problem. Are you trying to automatically log on when the computer boots? If so:

1) Click Start, Run and enter CONTROL USERPASSWORDS2
2) Highlight the user account you want automatically logged on
3) Uncheck Users must enter a username and password.........
4) Click Apply.
5) In the next dialog, enter the password for the account you chose in step 2, if any.
6) Ok your way out.

If you're trying not to have to enter a password after the screen saver kicks in, go to Control Panel, Display, Screen Saver and uncheck the box, On resume, show Welcome Screen, or On resume, password protect, as approrpriate.

Other than that, you'll have to be more specific about what problem you're encountering.
