I have windows XP home edition. Recently, my system
failed to start. System runs bios setup and then displays
the following message.
"File vgamon.fon is corroupt or missing. You can start
the system with windows cd. select r to restart the
machine"
So, I inserted the windows CD , but nothing happens. Can
you explain what is vgamon.fon file is doing and how can
I repair my system.
thank in advance

There is no VGAMON.FON file in Windows so the Windows-CD may not help
here. See "Resources for Troubleshooting Startup Problems in Windows
XP" (http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=308041).
