Windows XP Home Edition / distinctive ring / multifunction printer

I have been doing much research to get the Distinctive Ring to work on my
sister's computer with Windows XP Home / multifunction printer.

Compaq Presario desktop 5000

Windows XP Home Edition

Connected via USB with

Compaq A1500 Print Fax Copy Scan All-in-One



PCTel Platinum V.90 Modem (internal)

Hardware ID: EEPROM ID: Pci\ven_134d&dev_7897&subsys_0001134d



Distinctive Ring via Verizon



What registry settings I can modify?



And what, if any, extra initialization string do I put in under Control
Panel / Phone and Modem Options / Modems / Properties / Advanced, set Extra
initialization commands ?


Your assistance would be very much appreciated, as I need to get on with my
other work here.

Distinctive ringing is not supported in Windows XP. Please see the following
KB.

You don't have to put any extra modem initialization strings in the modem
options. If the modem manuals specify then only you need to add these
entries. But in mose cases modem initialization strings reside in the inf
file which comes with the modem drivers. When the modem is installed these
strings are persited in the registry so that any application will not have
to read the modem inf files again.
