How do I remove?
While on the Microsoft site trying to fix another problem I inadvertently
did something to display "Windows XP Home Edition" and " Build.....(Service
Pack 2)" in white type on the lower left of my desktop just above the system
tray.
I can't for the life of me remember what page this was on!!!
Its really annoying and I would like to remove it.
Any idea?

You need to use TweakUI XP to get rid of this.
Get it from here if you don't have it:-
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/downloads/powertoys/xppowertoys.mspx
Install it & run it & select "General"
Scroll down to the bottom of the options displayed by "General"
Deselect "Show Windows version on desktop" & click OK.
The Windows version will be deleted after you log off & on again or restart
Windows.
Mike.

From TweakUI:
- Left side, Select General
- Right side, scroll down and uncheck "Show window version on desktop"
- Click OK

From Regedit:
- Go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop
- Right side, double-click PaintDesktopVersion and set it to 0
- Restart explorer

Good Luck, Ayush.
