Windows XP Home Edition, Automatic Updates, Autmoatic Update Compo

Hi,
I have a question. My dads computer is running Windows XP Home Edition and
they have been having trouble with the automoatic updates not being able to
install. The error message that they get says this:
"PPV5Updater, ERROR! PPCTL component not correctly installed!"
Can someone tell me how to fix this problem so that they may get their
updates as needed?
