Windows XP folders "search" instead of "open".

Stressed

When I double-click on any folder on XP except for "My
Computer" a search window is automatically opened. The
folder is not opened. If I right-click, I can get the
option to "Search" (which is in bold) or "Explore" but I
cannot just "Open" a folder.

I looked under "Tools" and "Folder Options" and there were
two entries for folders under "File Types". "File Folder"
and "Folder". "File Folder" has the correct settings,
with "Open" as the default command, but apparently the
computer isn't using this. "Folder" has "Search" as the
default command and NO command for "Open." I cannot
delete either of these, and I cannot change existing
commands. All I can do is add "New" commands, but I have
no clue where I would find the "Open" command on my
computer. Can anybody help me here???
