Windows XP fails to load from User menu

Windows XP fails to load when user clicks on their name. Starts to load
personal settings and then kicks back to the user menu. Tried entering via
Safe mode and got the same results.

Look into replacing the userinit file - sounds like you got yourself
infested/infected.

Shenan,

Not a novice but not sure how to go about replacing the "userinit" file.
Suggestions?

So what did that user install lately? Yeah, they'll first claim they didn't
until you find a modified timestamp on a file for some driver and then, gee,
all of a sudden they remember they installed that software that they
previously lied to you about.

Reboot into the boot menu and select "last known good configuration" to get
around any recent software installs or ****ed up registry cleaner results.
