Windows XP - Domain Controller Error

J

Justin

On Windows XP machines that I have on a Windows 2000
domain, I get this error when I login:

"a domain controller for your domain could not be
contacted you have been logged on using cached account
information. changed made to your profiles since you last
logged on may not be available."

I've been reading other newsgroups and tried a few things,
including setting the net logon group policy to 'always
wait for network' something like that.

The machines in question have static ip's, and the primary
and secondary DNS servers are not pointing to the Windows
2000 Domain Controller. Is that required, that the primary
DNS be setup to the Windows 2000 DC?

Is there anything else I can try? Thanks.

Here's a little more information...

In the event log, there are error entries with Event ID:
1054 and 15.

Yes. You may want define the W2K DNS as a forwarder, so that unresolved
requests are forwarded to an external DNS.

Thanks! That seems to have done the trick!
