Windows XP COMMAND.COM Problem!!!!!

When i open command.com from the Start Menu, it closes in
10 seconds. When i use Norton Antivirus, it closes the
minute it loads. When i run a DOS Program, it closes
automatically. Can anybody tell me what the problem is,
maybe i need a new file. I tried using System Restore, no
use. You can also email me to tell me how to fix it,
Where i can download a new command.com file to the right
folder. Thank you.

I assume you mean the command prompt. When you open it do you do so by
typing cmd in the run box and pressing enter or using the command prompt
shortcut on the start menu?

If you are trying to run your DOS programs from the run box, have you tried
opening the command prompt and using a command line to execute them?
Assuming you weren't using either of the above methods to open the Command
Prompt, try one or the other and then try navigating to the DOS app and see
if you can open it from the command prompt.

As to Norton, have you tried removing it and reinstalling, have you checked
with Symantec tech support, www.symantec.com?
