Windows XP cannot logoff/shutdown properly

Hi all experts,

I had bought a IBM thinkpad(w/Windows XP Pro) and made it one of the member
in my company's domain. It worked normal at first. However, recently, I
found the windows hang on log off screen while logging off/shutting down.
Now I need to press the power button to force the shutdown.

Would someone kindly tell me what's happen on my laptop. THanks~

Hi Gallen,

Likely something to do with some after-market software that was installed on
the system. See if the troubleshooters from MVP Jim Eshelman help:
