Windows XP Activation always showing

I have a problem

I have just bought and installed Windows XP SP2 and have, apparently,
successfully activated it. The problem is that, when ever I log in, aside
from Safe mode with command prompt, is that I get the activation window
popping up, saying I've successfully activated windows, then logs me out.

Is there a way to get around this without having to reinstall it all over
agin?

By 'log out' you are saying 'go back to the Welcome screen'. You may mean
windows 'shuts down', but:
log out on login
You Profile is damaged. Boot to Safe Mode with command prompt, and type:
LOGON
This should ask for a password, which is blank, just hit ENTER
If you successfully start Windows, create an new user account.
