Windows wants to restart

I was wandering if anyone has had this problem and if so what they did to
resolve it.

Every time that I turn on my computer and Vista home premium loads I am told
that I need to restart my computer to continue updating.

This has been going on since the beginning of June. I would say that I have
probably restarted my computer over 100 times. If I tell it to not restart
everthing works fine but it is real annoying.

Sounds to me like an update hasn't installed properly. Can you provide some
information on which one?

For Windows updates, see Control Panel > System and Maintenance > Windows
Update > Show update log. If you can't find anything there, try Control
Panel > System and Maintenance > Administrative Tools > Event Viewer (you
must run as administrator). Also, can you remember if any of your other
software ran an update in June?

Your best bet with problems like this is to run system restore soon after
the problem happens and then try to resolve what it was that caused it.
That is probably no longer possible. Also you should look in your uninstall
programs in control panel and add the installed on column to the listed
columns and you can see any programs you may have installed around the date
you started having the problem.

I have the same problem after I performed a system restore. It is still in
this loop after unrestoring, restoring different checkpoints, and restoring a
complete backup. No solution yet.

If you have done all those steps, you almost certainly have a hardware
problem. I would suggest you turn off automatic restart in system
properties/advanced and post any stop codes you may be getting, or check
event viewer for messages and post back.

Thanks everyone for all of your help but so far no luck. As for updates not
installed correctly I have no failed installs listed in my updates history
corresponding to the time frame that this occurred. I had some on May 2 but
all were reinstalled successfully on the same day. I did try to do a system
restore when it first happened, but it did not solve the problem. And as for
the automsatic restart the computer doesn't automatically restart it just
pops a message up telling that I need to restart the computer. I tried a
registry scanner (trial version) that found over 1000+ errors in my registry.
However, the trial program would only correct 10 problems so I need to try
and find one that will correct more than 10 problems and see if that helps.

What ever you do do not use Glary Utilities 2.2.2.66. It just wiped out my
system. Control panel would not work, system restore would not work and
when I tried to undo the changes that the program made (using the programs
backup) it could not restore the registry. It just kep giving error that it
could not set the registry keys. I had to restart in safe mode to system
restore to work and restore the system to get it back to the way that it was
before.

I'll try it and see now that I've armed myself with a manual registry backup
that will work in case the same thing happens that happened with Glary
Utilities 2.2.2.66.
